Biometrics for Workforce Management Get Employees Back to Work Faster and For Longer Periods of Time

Whether you are a manager who is looking to boost productivity or you are simply a small business owner who wants to make sure that they stay in the black, you will find that one area that is surprisingly hard to control is employee presence! It sounds like a no-brainer. If someone is not working, you fire them. The truth of the matter, however, is that there is a lot of leeway in your attendance system, and that is where a biometric attendance system comes in handy!
What Are You Missing Right Now?
Right now, chances are good that you, like so many of the companies out there, are using some kind of physical check-in system. Perhaps your employees need to use an old punch-card system, or perhaps they simply fill out their own time sheets. In general, people are honest, but when it comes to a difference of a few minutes, they can get careless. Over time, a little carelessness every day or even every few days can lead to a lot of missing minutes for you!
The truth is that both the punch-card system and the time slip system are prone to abuse and to misinformation. For example, if an employee knows that a friend is going to be late, they will likely clock them in. if someone is creating their own time sheet, they may fudge it a little, assuming that the person who is signing it will never know the difference. In most cases, they would be right!
What Is a Biometric Attendance System?
Once you have discovered a problem, you need an answer, and that is where a great biometric attendance system comes into play. This system is simple, immediate and wonderfully straightforward.
Your employees will come to work, and then they will use a fingertip scanner to ascertain that they are where they say they are. There are no physical reports to modify, and no one can cover for anyone else. This means that your reports on who is working and when are going to be a lot more accurate.
You Save Time
The facts are very clear on this. In India, biometric attendance procedures have been put in place for almost 50,000 central government employees. The result is that the sheer amount of time that is being spent in the office has gone up an average of 20 minutes every day per employee. This in turn has lead to an increase of almost 16,000 man hours in over the past three months.
Office fitout companies such as Total Fitouts have commented on the demand for such devices, and they are certainly up. In particular, any office that wants to seem technologically advanced, like ones for software engineers, have been persistent in getting biometric scanners fixed to their doors.
What this means is that people can no longer cover for themselves and others. They may be able to convince a close friend to clock them in, or they might be able to alter the numbers slightly on a time slip, but unless they are where they are supposed to be to clock in, they will be noticed.
When you are looking for the right biometric attendance software for you, you will quickly realize that this means you can produce automatic time sheets that will tell you what is going on. You will be able to see an employee’s entire employment history right where you want it. This will reduce the amount of time you spend tracking man hours and simply allow you to see what is happening in your company.
Though biometric attendance may sound like a big leap for your company, you will be surprised at how easy it is to implement. It can be used in your office or even for in-field personnel when they are on the job site.
Take a moment to consider how a biometric attendance system can save you time and money while getting your employees right where they should be when they should be there!
How do you find employee engagement, trust and leadership scores when “big brother” is active?
Thank you for the comment and we appreciate you voicing your opinion. It’s unfortunate that you draw that connotation but we can tell you that the technology works for what it is intended to do and if employee absenteeism, buddy punching, or time theft wasn’t a problem in workforce management than perhaps the technology wouldn’t be in such high demand.
With biometric time clock an individual’s unique physical characteristics, such as their fingerprints or facial features, to verify their identity and track their attendance. This can provide a more secure and accurate way of tracking employee hours compared to traditional time clocks that rely on passwords or ID cards. Biometric time clocks can also help prevent time theft and improve workforce management. Overall, biometric time clocks are a convenient and effective way for businesses to track and manage employee attendance.
