On any mobile device security systems usually have a PIN or password. Despite the emergence of biometric authentication for many smart portable devices, the system is still not standardized for all the devices available in the market. Biometric authentication in still unique and limited to some smartphones. However, the advent of true Artificial Intelligence (AI) in smartphones now is going to change the market completely.

Passwords and PINs are hard to remember and provide little security. Biometric scanning solutions such as fingerprint scanner, voice recognition, face recognition or iris scanner facilities are more desirable and attractive for the users who do not want to use passwords or pins. The smartphone market has been long shifted from technology focus and has driven towards personal experience of the users. This is why AI in smartphones are now increasing in popularity and demand. According to Gartner’s prediction, 80% of next generation of smartphones manufactured will have AI capabilities. The percentage was 10 in 2017 and it is expected to hit 80 by 2022 according to the prediction. Gartner sorted a list of 10 AI platforms that will run on the smartphones by 2022. Another research director of the company commented, “Over the next two years, most use cases will still exploit a single AI capability and technology. Going forward, smartphones will combine two or more AI capabilities and technologies to provide more advanced user experiences.”

Lets have a look at the list of 10 probable AI solutions (not in the necessary order) that may rule the smartphone market.

Emotion Recognition

Emotion detection through computing and analyzing may change how the user interacts with the smartphones and it will enable a lot of different options and activities. Mass usage of different personal assistance and many conversation based AI assistance now requires a solid emotion analyzing systems. This way the smartphones will be able to analyze the user’s real situation and act accordingly in different situation. File transfers can also be monitored automatically with this feature and it will help a lot to secure data and usage.

Augmented Reality (AR) and AI Vision

This feature will enable the smartphones to gather data from the users and even analyze and detect any discrepancies. This can be used for medical condition analysis and even probable suggestions for the user. Apple released their latest iOS 11 and added ARkit features to provide tools for the developers to add AR in the apps. Google also added ARCore an AR developer tool for android and announced to enable AR on 100 million android smart devices by December, 2019.

Device Management

AI will be able to automatically manage apps better. By analyzing the behavior and using multiple sensors, AI in smartphones will be able to suggest apps to use or keep the app running on back for quick relaunch. Even it can shutdown apps that are not frequently used to save power or memory.

AI will be able to draw a personal profile according to the usage and behavior of the users. This will enable a different sort of application for different parties also. Such as, gym trainers can use take data about the daily walk of the user and plan diet and workout sets accordingly.

Artificial intelligence was a dream feature in the past days that has already started to come to life. Just as smartphones became personal assistance to people in their everyday life, AI will become a necessity in every smartphones.
