Case study: Egyptian military academy
Summary: Fingerprint biometrics for security and to build a biometric database
M2SYS works closely with its clients, enabling them to capitalize on the benefits of using biometrics for security and accelerating their return on investment (ROI). These case studies of multi-modal biometrics security deployments for various verticals show how biometric security software solutions can protect the welfare of citizens, stop corruption and fraud, and create efficiency.
To increase security and build a biometric database of their personnel, the Egyptian Military Academy is currently using M2SYS fingerprint reader biometrics along with Bio-Plugin™ identification software to register and identify Academy attendees.
Challenge
The Egyptian military was seeking an identification technology they could use at their Academy to register and identify personnel entering and exiting the facility. Since security is paramount at the Academy, the Egyptian Military needed to adopt a technology that was secure and could ensure personnel identification accuracy. They also sought to create a biometric template database that was easily manageable and could be merged with other registries for multiple uses.
Solution
Working closely with M2SYS, the Egyptian Military Academy customized an Academy identification solution using M2-S™ fingerprint reader terminals and the Bio-Plugin™ biometric matching software. Currently, the Military deploys approximately 500 fingerprint terminals for registration and identification at their Academy and has captured biometric templates for over 500,000 of their personnel.
Benefit
The M2SYS biometric fingerprint terminals and identification software has been successful at significantly increasing security at the Academy by requiring all personnel and attendees to register their biometric identity credentials and using them as a means for authorized facility access. With approximately 500 fingerprint terminals and over 500,000 Academy personnel and attendees registered in their database to date, using biometrics for identification has also allowed the Egyptian Military to assemble a comprehensive, flexible biometric template database for future military credentialing purposes.
